The Medicare prescription drug benefit became effective January 1, 2006. As the Medicare Quality Improvement Organization (QIO) for Florida , under contract with CMS, FMQAI will work with health care providers, prescription drug plans, and pharmacies to evaluate and improve the quality of care provided under the Medicare prescription drug benefit and through a Medication Therapy Management Project.
