Remaking American Medicine

Remaking American Medicine is a four-part television series that will be broadcast on Public Television in the October 2006. The series follows an array of pioneering individuals and institutions from across the nation as they work to bridge the “quality chasm” that now exists in health care. It is a compelling story told through the eyes of clinicians, medical educators, administrators and patients, showing their struggles, their setbacks and their victories.

An unprecedented two-year national awareness effort will lead up to the broadcast of the series. The objectives of this ambitious outreach campaign are to stimulate a nationwide dialogue about the importance of improving American health care and to issue a call to action at the local, regional and national levels. The campaign has already enlisted the support of institutions and individuals who are leaders in the field, as well as other stakeholders most affected by the health care quality issue. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services and FMQAI are supporting this series, and FMQAI will be spearheading promotional efforts in Florida for this important project.
